Scared stupid: 24/7 counseling available to university students ‘offended’ by Halloween costumes

All most of us want is to enjoy our lives. We really aren’t asking for much. We go through our everyday lives trying not to get in anyone else’s business while hoping that they won’t get into ours, either. We want to leave people alone and be left alone. In a nation that is built on liberty, that shouldn’t be much of a problem. Unfortunately, the leftist millennial army refuses to leave us alone.
This is never more apparent than it is during Halloween — a time of year when mischief and fun are encouraged by all of those with any semblance of a soul. It takes a true hater of fun to find a problem with Halloween, but over the course of the past few years, the Regressive Left has managed to find problems with virtually every aspect of the holiday. From costumes to movies and everything in between, the liberal idiots of the world do everything in their power to guilt-trip the masses into hating one of the most wonderful times of the year.
Consider the University of Florida, which recently warned its students not to wear potentially offensive costumes and is even offering counseling to students that may see costumes that upset them. Yes, it seems as though the professors at public university believe that their adult students are so childish that they may need counseling from the traumatic experience of seeing people in costumes. What has happened to the world where this is considered appropriate or necessary?
In a newsletter sent out by the university, the administrators wrote, “If you choose to participate in Halloween activities, we encourage you to think about your choices of costumes and themes. Some Halloween costumes reinforce stereotypes of particular races, genders, cultures, or religions. Regardless of intent, these costumes can perpetuate negative stereotypes, causing harm and offense to groups of people.”
This statement opens up countless questions about the current state of American universities. What does it say about millennials in general that they need to be coddled to such a degree. After all, most children have been dressing up in costumes and trick or treating since a very young age. It’s a legitimate health concern that legal adults cannot handle themselves in a more mature manner.
Halloween should be one of the freest, most enjoyable times of the year. We don’t need the fun police of the Regressive Left telling us how we should be allowed to celebrate.
