Over the past several years, the once-reputable science periodical Scientific American has gone “woke,” leaving behind an empty carcass of pseudoscientific nonsense that can no longer be taken seriously.
Scientific American‘s latest offense involves the trend of transgenderism, which the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Laura Helmuth, says is somehow rooted in science.
“White-throated sparrows have four chromosomally distinct sexes that pair up in fascinating ways,” Helmuth tweeted along with an article from Audubon that supports her pro-trans argument.
“P.S. Nature is amazing. P.P.S. Sex is not binary,” Helmuth added.
Such tripe is the kind of thing that transgenders and their allies think will convince the masses to accept their mental illness, but their plan has a few holes. It turns out that many actual scientists, including evolutionary biologist Colin Wright, is having none of it.
In a response tweet to Helmuth’s nonsense, Wright clarified that, “No, these birds have 2 sexes. I debunked this nonsense two months ago,” along with a link proving his point – check it out if you would like to hear more of what Wright has to say about the pseudoscientific concept known as the “multimodal” model of biological sex.
(Related: Remember back in early 2022 when Scientific American declared the field of genetics to be racist, losing all remaining credibility as a periodical actually devoted to real science?)
Even from the Audubon article itself that Helmuth linked to, Wright pointed out that it only seems like the white-throated sparrow has four sexes.
“‘Almost as if’ means that it’s not even ‘as if,’ meaning that they in fact do not have four sexes, but rather just two,” Wright further clarified.
Boom: roasted. One would think that it would be case closed after all that, but instead Helmuth just ignored Wright and blocked him on Twitter.
“lol, truth hurts!” Wright responded to Helmuth’s immature blocking of his account.
Seth Dillon of The Babylon Bee also joined in on the fun, mocking Helmuth for her inability to handle the truth, as well as her flagrant immaturity in a public forum. He, too, was blocked by Helmuth, naturally.
This is what happens when far-leftists, and especially far-leftist women, are installed into top positions at formerly reputable media outlets like Scientific American.
In a tweet that was sent on Nov. 10, 2015 by David Burge of the “Dave’s Car ID Service,” Burge warned his followers that formerly respected institutions were under attack, even back then, by those who seek to rob, kill, and destroy. He wrote:
“1. Identify a respected institution.
2. kill it.
3. gut it.
4. wear its carcass as a skin suit, while demanding respect.
#lefties.”
One can clearly see that Burge’s tweet has proven undeniably true in the years since, with one of the latest respected institutions to be killed, gutted, and worn as a carcass by a deranged leftist being none other than Scientific American, the laughingstock of the scientific world.
“Think about that for a minute,” commented Aaron Walker, writing about the matter for Twitchy.
“She (Helmuth) is not only unwilling to debate with Mr. Wright, but by blocking him rather than muting him, she doesn’t even want him to see what she says on any other subject. Could there be a less scientific approach? And all of this from the editor-in-chief of a once-respected scientific magazine?”
To this, someone else on Twitter pointed out that Helmuth edits Scientific American, which means “screwing up science is her job.”
